Joseph Harlen Howe, 95, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Joseph was born in Saginaw, Mi., on Sept. 11, 1928, the son of the late Joseph Kyle Howe and Loma Kerr Howe. He earned his Botany master’s degree from Michigan State University. Joseph worked three years with Texas A&M and retired from Dow Chemical as a chemist after 37 years of service. He was a parishioner at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Joseph enjoyed anything outdoors especially hunting, fishing, and watching the birds.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jesica Howe and a sister, Dottie Fenner.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Howe; six children, Michael Howe, Laura Lynch (Lloyd), David Howe, Jeffery Howe, Carole Mitchell (Jim), and Joey Howe; eight grandchildren, Stephen Howe, Paul Lynch (Lindsey), Drew Howe, Krissy Howe, Chris Mitchell (Tara), Kyle Mitchell (Blaire), Michael Lynch (Natalie) and Nicholas Mitchell; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Paul Lynch officiating.
