Lee Set To Host NCAA DII Women's Golf South Regional Championship

Twelve women's college teams and six individuals, not representing clubs in the tournament, their coaches, families, fans, and friends will gather at the Cleveland Country Club as the Lee University Lady Flames host the 2024 NCAA DII Women's Golf South Regional Championship.

It all begins with a practice round on Sunday (May 5th) before the teams and six individuals get down to business on Monday-Wednesday in the 54 hole event. The top five teams and the top two student-athletes, not on an advancing team, will qualify for the NCAA National DII Championship on May 21-25, at the Orange Country National Golf Center in Orlando, Florida.

"We are excited to host the South Regional," said Tournament Director Marty Rowe. "This will be our third time hosting this event at the Cleveland Country Club. This is the strongest field in the country and we are looking forward to a great week of golf. The Country Club is a great test of golf and as always looks to be in great shape."

Added Lee Women's Golf Coach Geandra Almeida, "I'm so grateful our team has the opportunity to compete at the Country Club. We are excited and ready for a great week. We want to enjoy every little moment out there as we all know it is such a privilege to play at our home course."

Lee Athletic Director John Maupin joined in, "What an honor it is to have the opportunity to welcome 66 of the best women's golfers in the country to Cleveland, and our Country Club. The course is a true championship test! We look forward to making it a special week for all spectators, coaches, and student athletes."

The 12 teams that will be battling to become one of the five teams to advance to Orlando and the Nationals are:

10. Limestone University (SC)
11. North Greenville (NC) [Conference Carolinas Champ Champ]
12. West Florida [Gulf South Conference Champ]
